Welcome to Boat of Garten, a lovely wee village set in the Heart of the Highlands known as the “Osprey Village”, because of its proximity to Loch Garten RSPB Nature Reserve.

Our cottage, “Logie” is an original railway cottage recently extended and renovated to a high standard.  It is ideal for families, but can sleep up to 7.  With a cosy lounge complete with open log fire and sparkling new bathroom and spacious kitchen, it provides an excellent base for your highland holiday.

At the front of the property there is off road parking for up to three cars including use of the large garage which also offers secure storage of bicycles and sporting equipment during your stay. To the rear is a large enclosed garden and patio (picture below).

Logie, a traditional granite railway cottage, was built in 1896. It was the first property in the road to be built.  It was originally one half of two, 2-roomed semi-detached properties. It has been in our family since the 1960’s. After acquiring the other half of the property in the early 1970's, both were joined to become a single property.

In 1975 Logie was extended and transformed, effectively tripling the amount of living space. The original rear exterior granite wall of the property was retained and incoporated as part of the new lounge and is most definitely a focal feature with its log burning fireplace. This created a spacious family home and a small self-contained, single bedroom, holiday rental unit called "Fasdail".

In a reversal of roles, the larger Logie will now be let out as a family sized holiday cottage and the smaller Fasdail is no longer a holiday let and reserved for occasional family use.

When we took the decision to let the property, we also decided we would try and exceed expectations of the accommodation. To this end Logie has just completed an extensive refurbishment; amongst other things it now boasts a new kitchen, new bathroom, new hot water boiler (with mains pressure hot water - great for showers), broadband connection and much more. We hope that it ticks all the boxes for you as it does for us.

Logie is  a non-smoking property and sorry, no pets.

The local shops, pub and Strathspey Railway are only a minute walk away, as are the golf course and tennis courts which are just a further minute down the road and round the corner and the nearby River Spey is very handy for fishing.

Boat of Garten and the surrounding spectacular countryside is is set within the Cairngorm National Park, with a wide range of activities literally on the door step for the whole family. Aviemore is only 6 miles away, and Inverness 26 miles. The National Cycle Network runs through the village.
